Baby Love:

an educational and mindfulness based mental wellness program for parents of young children

Empathy and Play: In this workshop, learn about the power of empathy in supporting young children (even babies) in regulating their emotion. It is indeed through empathy that all humans begin to feel better seen, heard and loved. And when we feel seen, heard and loved, it becomes a whole lot easier to behave in an appropriate manner. Consider how you might communicate and empathize more deeply with your child through play; using the opportunity to also connect more deeply with your own inner child.

Then prepare yourself to utilize these mindfulness skills during those tough times with your little one.

Mindful Selective Attention: Not all behaviors require attention. In fact, the more attention we give to certain inappropriate behaviors, the more likely they are to reoccur. So how do we differentiate between what to ignore and what to address? And when we ignore, what does that look like? How do we manage the chaos? This workshop will support you in exploring what it means to offer selective attention in a mindful and loving way.

Common Childhood Themes: As listed in the book "Don't Hit Mommy" (a text developed for clinicians studying Child Parent Psychotherapy), several common childhood themes impact each an every parent-child relationship. In this workshop, we review each of these common themes and utilize this information to consider how these themes uniquely impact the relationship you have with your own child. Allow this information to empower the changes you want to make within your family, and within yourself.

Attachment Style and Inner Healing: This attachment focused workshop will support you in exploring and identifying your own attachment style as you learn about each type of attachment. Authentically explore and consider how your life experiences have impacted your manner of relating to others. Your attachment style will impact your child's attachment style, and together your attachment styles integrate to support either peaceful or painful interactions. As you learn, you become more adept at understanding the conflict that exists for you and for your child.

Developmental Stages and Virtues: Developmental theorist Erik Erikson asserted eight stages of development over the lifetime, and in this workshop we focus on how these stages and stressors have impacted you and your child. This developmental exploration will also support you in better understanding why you feel "stuck" in certain areas of your life, as well as empowering your ability to get "un-stuck" through creative processing.

Meaning Making: Each and every life experience, every challenge, and every mishap can actually be understood as opportunities for personal growth and gain... if you choose to believe it. This workshop affirms the idea that as human beings, we are all capable of making our own meaning of our life experiences. From this existential perspective, explore the responsibility that rests with you; the responsibility and freedom to understand the challenges in your life in whatever way you choose to. You can choose to make meaning in ways that support your sense of peace; will you do it?

Tracking Triggers: How can we get even more detailed around planning for challenging behaviors? We can track them! Use this workshop as a tool for better tracking your child's inappropriate behavior so that you can better understand those underlying triggers. Build on the "common childhood themes" workshop by considering how some of these themes or how certain childhood needs might be triggering the behaviors you are TIRED OF, so that you can understand it all differently; and so that you can help your child make a change.

Exploring Strengths and Gratitude: In the midst of challenging situations with a child, it may be difficult to tap into the gratitude and strength based perspective we all strive for. This workshop opportunity will support you in planning for intentional gratitude as a skill for supporting a peaceful and accepting relationship between you and your child. Tapping into your strengths and gratitude will help you to acknowledge your child's strengths as well... therefore supporting an even fuller experience of gratefulness. Making life that much more fun.

Triad of Triangles: Use the three presented triangles as organized concepts for stabilizing the mind, accepting emotions, and making meaning of it all.
